The Media Arts Council will tap into the wealth of local talent to bring “A Carol on Every Corner” at this month’s 2nd Saturday Arts Stroll on December 13th. From 4-7pm students from Penncrest High School will make their way up and down State Street stopping at local businesses that will sponsor the SOS fundraising program. The Save Our Steinway program is aimed at purchasing a new grand piano for the auditorium at Penncrest. Businesses that donate towards the cause will received a special stop on the caroling way and a place in the program when the Penncrest Choir has a concert recital to dedicate the new instrument.
Include State Street in your plans for holiday activities and shopping. At 6pm Santa Claus will make a stop at the Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union. Holiday shoppers can shop local and give the gift of art by visiting the Media Arts Center’s (609-B w. State st.) Holiday Co-Op Exhibition and Sale, as well as the various 2nd Saturday participating businesses that will feature the work of local artists.
In addition to great shopping opportunities, State Street will be filled with various arts activities at local businesses. As with every 2ndSaturday, arts strollers can find music, art, and dancing at the Coffee Beanery, Picasso’s, Dos Gringos, Court Diner, Local Home + Gifts, Reiki Healing Center, Front St. Fountain, Seven 7 Stones Café, Sangha Space, and Values Into Action. Plan your Saturday night in style, and bring your family and friends. Take a nice long stroll beneath the soft glow of the streetlamps and string lights and delight in the joyous sounds of Everybody’s Hometown.
