11th Annual Media Arts Council Juried Photography Exhibit

Theme: Season

Capture Unique Images of Media and Delaware County.

The Media Arts Council Juried Photography Exhibit is an annual juried photography exhibit that seeks to draw unique photographs from local and regional artists, amateur and professional, with a focus on the town of Media, as well as all of Delaware County, PA. Photographs may depict any subject matter, provided it reflects the theme and was captured in Delaware County and/or the Borough of Media at the time the photograph was taken.

Previous submissions to PhotoEx or Media ICONS are not permitted. Media Arts Council board members, employees, and their family members may enter the competition and be accepted for exhibit, but will not be eligible to be judged for awards and prizes.

THEME: Season

Season: A time of year, a flavoring for food, a quality or feature added to something. What does the concept of “season” mean to you? Use your own unique and creative interpretations of this theme in your photographic submissions to the PhotoEx 2017 Juried Exhibition.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE

All entries must be received by 7:00 PM, Saturday July 22, 2017, regardless of postmark.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The time frame for the entire PhotoEx 2017 event, including the submission deadline, is now one month earlier than previous years.

LOCATION OF SUBJECT MATTER

Photographs must depict subject matter within Delaware County PA, including the Borough of Media. Download map of Delaware County. In space provided on Entry Form 2017, briefly identify where the image was captured, and describe its relationship to exhibit’s theme. Special consideration will be given to those unique images that not only exemplify good composition and photography, but also depict a viewpoint of Media and Delaware County that is unique to our town or community. Artist is not required to reside in Delaware County or Media Borough.

CASH PRIZE AWARDS

  • One First Place prize of $300
  • One Second Place prize of $150
  • Two Honorable Mention prizes of $75

EXHIBIT LOCATION: Media Arts Council’s Gallery at 609-B West State Street in Media

DURATION OF EXHIBIT

All Accepted Works will be included in the 2017 Media Arts Council Juried Photography Exhibit, and will remain on display for approximately one month. The Exhibit’s Opening event will be on Saturday September 9, 2017, and the exhibit will run through Saturday, September 30, 2017.

SALES and COMMISSION

Media Arts Council will handle all sales of the artwork, and will take a 40% commission on works sold from the exhibit.

NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE

Entrants will be notified via email of their acceptance into the exhibit on or about July 29, 2017.

ANNOUNCEMENT & PRESENTATION OF AWARDS

Awards will be announced and presented during the exhibit Opening event.

USAGE RIGHTS OF SUBMISSIONS

All entrants grant the Media Arts Council the right to reproduce work selected in the promotional endeavors of the Media Arts Council when specifically promoting the arts and culture of Media, PA. No works will be used in a for-profit endeavor without the written consent of the artist.

JUROR

We are extremely pleased to announce this year’s juror, Chris Dietrich. Chris was the founder of Media Arts Council’s photographic exhibition 11 years ago, and served for most of that time as the driving force in organizing and making it a reality. Chris has used his extensive background in art, art history, graphic design, photography and expressions of ideas in a personal creative level, as well as in commercial graphic design as the owner and art director of Watertable Creative, www.H2Otable.com. We are delighted to honor all of Chris’ creative contributions and his proven artistic eye by selecting him as this year’s juror.
