Cheryl Schlenker’s love of painting includes finding the surprising colors that exist in what is seen everyday, mixing media to enhance the individual properties of each one, and finding joy in compositions of contrast and color that go beyond subject matter. Her works have been displayed in several juried international exhibitions, and she has signature membership in both the Philadelphia Water Color Society and the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society. She has won several awards from local art centers, the Delaware Valley Art League, and the Newmann Gallery. She currently serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Philadelphia Water Color Society.
Amelia Cain is drawn to capturing images of transient beauty. Within the urban landscape, she is fascinated by crumbling walls, peeling paint and other residuals, which reveal snippets of a city’s history without being explicitly narrative. Richness of detail exists everywhere as tiny remnants of attempted permanence. Within the organic landscape, she is interested in serendipitous moments in which reflections and shadows are cast like inadvertent paintings.
