In May the Media Arts Council Gallery will exhibit works by two of their talented artists, abstract painter Dana Crossan, and photographer Patricia Danzon. Entitled “Wanderers”, their show presents new and innovative work that expresses their experiences and reflections on life.
Dana Crossan’s figurative abstractions reflect on her everyday experiences. Says Crossan, “In a world where we are consumed by distractions, we rarely take the time to look at one another. We rarely take the time to understand someone and how they live their life. Faces, faces everywhere. What are you feeling? Why do you breathe? Why do you fight for certain rights?” Crossan uses watercolor, acrylic and pen to portray blurred images of faces, to sharpen awareness of how we view one. She invites us to see the individual, no matter what they stand for. Everyone, no matter their race, age, political view is a person who should be respected. We all breathe the same air.
Patricia Danzon brings the beauty of the world to her photography. Her style and subjects are eclectic, with both realism and abstraction. The common theme is use of light, line, color, composition and mood to capture the timeless in everyday scenes. This show features Italy and Vermont. “My compositions show an understanding of the geometry of architecture and landscape. They invite the viewer to step into the experience of the moment” according to Danzon.
