MAC is excited to welcome New Orleans barrelhouse & jazz pianist Reverend Chris to the gallery this September!

Reverend Chris was born in Boston and raised in Philadelphia. As a teenager, he moved to New Orleans and honed his sound playing and touring with some of the true legends of New Orleans music like Joe Krown and Walter “Wolfman” Washington. After Hurricane Katrina, Reverend Chris relocated back to Philadelphia where he has wowed audiences with his incredible amalgam of jazz, rhythm & blues and New Orleans swinging funk. Performing solo and with his band the High Rollers, he has been a fixture on the Philly music scene for more than a decade now and just released his 8th album as a leader and his first solo piano album since 2009’s “Some Songs”. The album features boogie-woogie and stride piano interpretations of songs by Prince, the Beatles, Thelonious Monk, Tom Tallitsch and Fats Waller in addition to his own originals.
