I studied painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. I’m a very straightforward painter. I respond to aspects of the visual world that make me stop, marvel and contemplate, and I try to communicate that moment and feeling in my paintings. I find inspiration in 17th and 19th century landscape painters, as well as more contemporary approaches. My preferred mediums are gouache, casein and oil. I also sketch, “urban sketching” style, in ink and watercolor.
