THEME: H2O: What does the concept of “H2O” mean to you? Use your own unique and creative interpretations of this theme in your photographic submissions to the PhotoEx 2020 Juried Exhibition.
The Media Arts Council Juried Photography Exhibition (PhotoEx) is an annual juried photography exhibit that seeks to draw unique images from amateur and professional photographers. For this 2020 edition, photographs may depict any subject matter in any location, provided they reflect your interpretation of the theme, “H2O.”
Images accepted into previous PhotoEx or Media ICONS exhibits are not permitted. Media Arts Council board members, employees, and their family members may enter and be juried into the exhibit, but will not be eligible to be judged for awards and prizes.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: All entries must be received by 11:59 pm on Saturday August 22, 2020. (Entry form below.)
LOCATION OF SUBJECT MATTER: Subject matter may be captured anywhere, and the artist is not required to reside locally. The juror will consider good composition and photographic technique, as well as interesting, unusual and unique subject matter, and interpretation of the theme.

EXHIBIT LOCATION: Media Arts Council’s Gallery at 609-B West State Street, Media, PA 19063 (adjacent to The Sterling Pig Brew Pub, where State Street meets Baltimore Pike), and across Baltimore Pike from the new West End Flats See map.
DURATION OF EXHIBIT: All accepted works will be included in the 2020 Media Arts Council Juried Photography Exhibit. The Exhibit’s Opening event will be on Saturday October 10, 2020, and the exhibit will run through Saturday, November 7, 2020.
The opportunity to participate more fully in the MAC Juried Photography Exhibit by gallery-sitting for a few hours on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday is available. Please reserve your time slot when you deliver your accepted works. A signup sheet will be provided.

SALES and COMMISSION: Media Arts Council will handle all sales of the artwork, and will take a 40% commission on works sold during exhibit period, regardless of how sale originated – whether at gallery or the MAC website, artist’s website, private transaction, or any other means.
NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE: Entrants will be notified via email of their acceptance into the exhibit on or about September 1st, 2020.
ANNOUNCEMENT & PRESENTATION OF AWARDS: Awards will be announced and presented during the exhibit Opening event.
USAGE RIGHTS OF SUBMISSIONS: All entrants grant Media Arts Council the right to reproduce work selected in the promotional endeavors of the Media Arts Council when specifically promoting the arts and culture of Media, PA. No works will be used in a for-profit endeavor without the written consent of the artist.
JUROR: Carrie Barcomb uses photography to document and capture the colors and textures of our natural world. She hopes to bring a sense of wonder from both small details as well as vast expansive landscapes in order to appreciate the beauty of nature and inspire a sense of respect towards our environment.
Carrie’s oil paintings are vibrant, colorful, and expressive She draws inspiration from our natural world and everyday life, and loves to work in all genres from portrait to still-life to landscape. Her landscape subjects vary widely from the Adirondack Mountains, to coastal Maine, to rural Brandywine Valley.
Carrie graduated from the Maryland Institute, College of Art, and has worked as a technical illustrator and art director for a federal government contractor. She lives with her family in Media, PA.

COVID-19 NOTICE: In the event that a physical Gallery Opening event and Exhibit is prohibited or deemed to present a health risk, we will attempt to notify participants as far in advance as possible that finished artworks will NOT be required. HOWEVER, all accepted images will be displayed on MAC’s virtual PhotoEx Gallery, together with title, dimensions, artist’s name, and sale price. The juror will select the four award winners—who will be featured on the website, and prize payments will be remitted via postal mail. Sales of the artworks will be enabled. Entry fees will not be refunded.
