Designed for high school students and oriented around a performing ensemble, MAC Jazz is for players who want to perform & sit in with with other musicians!
MAC Jazz After Class: Exploring Small Group Jazz with Bassist Justin Sekelewski
Winter/Spring 2025 - 10 weeks
Mondays, Feb 24th - April 28th 6-8 PM
Location: At Campbell AME Church of Media - 33 W State Street Media
8th through 12th grades
$450 for 10-Week Class. Scholarships Available. MAC members save $50 on tuition
This class focuses on playing together, and improving improvisation skills in a variety of jazz styles. Students will learn standard repertoire and may include opportunities to attend public jam sessions with professional musicians in the Philadelphia area. Additional instruction will include topics in Jazz History and Appreciation, Music Theory and Analysis, Jazz Improvisation and Aural Skills. Participating students will have a primer in the fundamentals of jazz performance to prepare them for future performances, college auditions, and a lifelong love of America’s musical heritage.

About the instructor:
Justin Sekelewski is a freelance acoustic bassist and educator in the Philadelphia area. He is a graduate of the Esther Boyer College of Music at Temple University. Justin is full-time performer and he also maintains a private studio of acoustic and electric bass students.

Jazz After Class Cancellation Policy
For Multi-Week Classes
Class registration cancelled two weeks or more before the start date of the class will be fully refunded, minus a 20% administration fee. Class registrations cancelled between 7-14 days before the class will receive a MAC gift card worth the amount of the class, minus a 20% administration fee.
There will be no refunds or credits of any kind for withdrawals less than 7 days prior to a class.
For One-Time Workshops
Withdrawals from a workshop more than 7 days prior to the start of a workshop will receive a full refund, minus a 20% administration fee. Withdrawals 7 to 4 days prior to the start date of a workshop will receive a MAC gift card worth the amount of the course, minus a 20% administration fee. There will be no refunds or credits of any kind for withdrawals 3 days prior and up to the day of a workshop. MAC gift cards are valid for one year from the issue date.
MAC Class Cancellations
MAC reserves the right to cancel or postpone any program or activity due to insufficient enrollment, faculty availability, or any other unforeseen circumstance. If MAC cancels a class or workshop, tuition payment will be refunded in full to the student.
