Better Than Bacon Improv is a short form improv comedy troupe based in West Chester, PA. BTB does short skits and games based on audience suggestions, and often invites audience members on stage to help out. Improv comedy, as we say in our show openers, is a one-time only performance. We work without a script or a net. What you see in one show will never be seen again. The spontaneity of improv makes improvisational comedy one of the most challenging forms of comedy to perform.
Our History
For those not familiar with the BTB origin story, a few crazy folks met at a local improv comedy class and became friends. Those same folks kept taking improv comedy classes until there were no more local classes to take. In 2010, after finding a director and a few more performers, Better Than Bacon was born. We had our first professional gig in 2011 and celebrated our 11th anniversary in June!
Our current troupe of 10 members hails from all over the SE Philly suburbs, Malvern, Exton, West Chester, Kennett Square, Phoenixville, Swarthmore, and Wilmington, DE. Our artistic backgrounds include improv, acting, stand-up comedy, and music.
Our Gigs
We are excited to perform regularly at great venues like the Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center (West Chester), the Kennett Flash (Kennett Square) and The Media Arts Council (Media) . We also perform at other venues near and far, do private, corporate, and fundraising gigs, and run team building workshops for companies and organizations.
Bacon Gives Back
In 2017, Better Than Bacon started its “Bacon Gives Back” program that provides non-profit organizations in our region the opportunity to raise funds based on ticket sales from our performances.
Some organizations that have taken advantage of Bacon Gives Back are Act in Faith (West Chester), After the Bell (Kennett Square), Family Promise of Southern Chester County, Wings for Success (Kennett Square and Exton), and Big Brother/Big Sisters of Chester County. We look forward to helping non-profit organizations make a difference in our communities!
