This collection of work explores the many ways in which artists and art create a sense of presence through the manipulation of color, light, materials, and composition. Apples and Oranges: Two Different Voices
David T Miller and Steven Nau were invited by Maryanne Buschini to exhibit artwork together. Although flattering, it was initially a curious concept since our work did not appear to have an apparent relationship other than existing under the umbrella of visual art. Mutual conversations explored ideas such as color, composition and self expression. We decided to celebrate the fact that our work represents two different voices singing in the chorus of artistic expression.

An artist’s point of view is expressed in various ways. I like to mix mediums and abstract images to enhance this process. Perspective is often exaggerated, figures are stretched, still lifes are stylized. Accenting the best or the most beautiful part of a landscape, floral arrangement, or figure expresses my viewpoint that there is the potential for beauty everywhere you look.
